Chinese Horse Painting on prepared silk and 18 form Chen Tai Chi with Terry Louie

NOTE: This course will be held in person. All students, staff and faculty must be fully vaccinated before they can enter the building. Please bring proof of vaccination with you.

Learn Chinese horse painting on prepared silk! Referencing old Chinese master paintings, create a composition with both horse and fiqure. Learn the traditional technique of laying down fine ink lines and color on prepared silk.

In the same class, practice the 18 form Chen Tai Chi. Define your vertical alignment through strong structured postures and dynamic movements.

Both arts emphasize harmonious structure with dynamic movement.

No prerequisite required with the exception of being able to do standing and moving Tai Chi Exercises for 45 minutes.

Materials: (Do not purchase supplies until after the first class meeting)
Chinese ink stick
Chinese inkstone
1 yard wool felt
Water jar
Old plate for a pallete
Prepared silk for painting
1 basic set of watercolors
Sized rice paper
Paper towels or rags to mop up ink or pigment
Old newspaper to lay out to put wet artwork on
One fine line brush. Three quarter inch hair length.
One Chinese brush sheep or goat hair. Hair length one inch.
