A course for students and artists interested in developing nonfiction comics - such as memoir, journalistic, biographical, historical, science/nature-based, or any other type of nonfiction narrative comics. This mentor-guided course will support students through the development and production of a nonfiction comic (or graphic novel) work. By the end of the course students will 1) develop a personal practice for their comics project/s, 2) begin and/or complete a personal comics project, and 3) establish and cultivate an inclusive and supportive working environment with each other for further work.

Class time in Google Hangouts will be used for an open discussion of published nonfiction graphic novels/comics (including overviews of the medium) and nonfiction graphic novel/comics formats and for sharing ideas/suggestions/critiques about works-in-progress. Drawing time will be scheduled for most class periods.
