Beginning to Intermediate Drawing with Kendra Larson

This course introduces you to the fundamental elements of drawing through a variety of engaging exercises in which you will examine space, volume and perspective. You will sharpen your perception skills and learn to render with confidence. Class discussions and critiques will encourage students to articulate their drawing ideas and process. All levels welcome. Class will meet regularly using Zoom and email will support critiques.

SUPPLIES:

Beginning Drawing -

• 1 Sketchbook or sketch paper

• 1 pad of watercolor paper (18” x 24”, at least 15 sheets, 140 lb.)

• 1 piece of black charcoal paper (18” x 24”)

• 1 piece of middle value grey charcoal paper (18” x 24”)

• Graphite drawing pencils, one of each: HB, 2B, 4B, 6B

• 1 Pencil sharpener

• 1 box of soft vine charcoal sticks

• 1 jumbo vine charcoal chunk

• 1 stick of Conte, black

• 1 stick of Conte, White

• 1 Kneaded eraser (grey soft one)

• 1 Gum eraser (white plastic hard one)

• 1 black ballpoint pen

• 1 small bottle of waterproof black drawing ink

• 1 Calligraphy brush

• 1 can of hairspray

• 1 OPTIONAL Drawing board with clips

• 1 OPTIONAL roll 1” blue masking tape (“Painter’s tape”)

• 1 OPTIONAL Pencil case or tackle box to carry everything

• 1-3 OPTIONAL Individual Prisma Color Pencils (Color of your choosing)
