Figure Out Painting with Todd Elliott

NOTE: This course will be held in person. All students, staff and faculty must be fully vaccinated before they can enter the building. Please bring proof of vaccination with you.

This class is an extension from Invention of Drawing and Inventing Yourself in Drawing (Drawing I and II courses). This painting class looks at those previous drawing techniques and how they can be brought to paint. If you already have had figure drawing and other drawing courses, this is a great introduction to painting the figure. Class starts with monochromatic studies and work into developing a workable palette of colors of your choice to create your own body of work. We will look at all sorts of other artists in class slide presentations and paint quick studies, much like drawing classes, as well as each class work on a long pose. A list of materials will be made available before class begins. Painting can be expensive, but this class is designed to be economical and not purchase all the supplies at once, but over the course of the class.
