This 8-week course seeks to explore the role of spirituality in art practice and art in spiritual
practice. Through a blend of creative practice and prompts, lecture materials and guided
meditation, Art Practice as Spiritual Practice explores the role of artist as mystic in both
experiential and art historical contexts.
Covering diverse forms and histories including Shamanism, Yantra and Tarot, as well as
exploring the work of contemporary artists, this class examines the role of healing, ritual and
visionary experience in image-making. Students with leave this course with practical tools and
wisdom for navigating their journey as artists and seekers.
