The mentor-guided course will guide students through the development and production of a nonfiction comic or graphic novel work. By the end of the class, students will complete a 2-4 page work for a class anthology, and have developed a personal practice for the production of a nonfiction comics project. Class time includes an open discussion of published nonfiction comics (including an overview of the medium) and graphic novel formats. Students should possess demonstrated drawing ability and basic writing skills. Mature and nontraditional students interested in developing nonfiction comics such as memoir or journalistic or nature-based comics are strongly encouraged to participate.
